Blonde moments.

Two years ago peroxide became one of my loving friends, some moments it seems like the harsh chemicals have seeped into my brain. Today I had the blondest moment of my life so far - some may call it borderline stupidity.

From my last post I reviled how I am now finally employed, and this morning required a 6:00am start as I had training and an exam for my new job. Packing my bag the night before, I woke up with a nosebleed (not that this has any relevance), had breakfast and boarded the 7:43am train - a time the majority of the UK is still fast asleep on a Saturday morning.

My training was at a swanky hotel in the centre of Nottingham and started at 9:00am. By 12:00pm we had been lectured at and took a series of notes, then it was time for the exam. Before we could sit the test we had to have our documents checked, having packed the night before I put my passport, bank statement and payslip snug in my bag. When the time came for these documents to be checked, I only had my passport and payslip. As you can imagine, my mind went into overdrive, part of me thinking I was going mad - ‘did I really pack the night before?’, ‘Where the hell did I put the statement?’. Tipping the contents of my bag on the desk I rummaged through everything, every pocket, I even considered removing the lining with scissors, but there was no sign.

The misplaced bank statement meant I couldn’t sit the test, and would have to wait till 5:00pm for the next exam. I had to go and let my doggies out, meaning I had to travel all the way home again, and all the way back. As I sit on the platform waiting for my train home, I decided to read some of my book, but what’s this? Yes. The bank statement.

So you see, we all have blonde moments, and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. But it’s highly embarrassing.

The secret to ice-blonde hair…

Whilst going about my normal day and ordering my Oreo milkshake I got complimented on my hair and was asked how I manage to get it so blonde. It felt good giving some advice and thought I’d share my secrets with my readers!

1. Good Salon & Good Stylist - I know some people think that it’s ok to do it at home and sometimes you can get away with it. If you’re anything like me though however, I’m terrified of it going a nasty shade of pink or something. Therefore I get it done at a salon

I’ve been going to the same salon ‘Arena Hair’ for nearly a year now and every-time I see the finished product I’m happy with it. Don’t be concerned if it takes some time before you find a stylist/salon that is right for you. Let’s face it, you’re the one that’s going to have to live with the results for the next 4-6 weeks. It’s got to be done right

2. Get it toned! - No, I’m not talking about your abs here, I’m talking about the product that needs to be left on your head to get that SUPER WHITE look. If a stylist doesn’t tone your hair after they’ve washed the bleach out, you know they’re doing something wrong. The reason ice-blondes need to tone their hair is because you want to cancel out all the yellow and brassy tones. This leaves you with hair even celebs might be a little jealous of.

3. Look After it - Ok, so you now have the best hair you could imagine but that isn’t going to last if you don’t look after it. For this you need a purple shampoo. No, not because it looks good but because of the science behind it.

If you wash your with any normal shampoo the chances are that silky peroxide is going to turn into a cheesy yellow. Because purple is at the opposite end of the colour spectrum to yellow, the purple tones cancel out the brassy ones, allowing you to have luscious blonde locks for longer! Personally I use John Frieda and highly recommend it.

4. It doesn’t last forever - Everyone who dyes their hair hates it when they see their natural roots coming through. This is the ultimate downside of going ice-blonde, not only does it take a lot of maintenance it requires your roots being done every 4-6 weeks. It varies from person to person, the chances are though you’re going to be wanting them done more or less every month.

Ultimately though, if you want to do it… GO FOR IT. It’s a striking colour, and you’ll be sure to love it!

KMS California - The most amazing hair products I have ever seen. In my entire life!

Ok, so since I’ve been going to my local salon I have actually fallen in love with these products:

Gel Wax (Pink Bottle) - This Product I use first. It’s kinda sticky but a little goes a LONG way. I rub it into my hair and mould a shape that says ‘lifted but sophisticated’. Because I detest using straighteners, I can sculpt a straight fringe look without the hair destroying heat! It’s not sticky and leaves your hair smelling beautifully with the ‘raspberry and black-pepper fragrance’.RRP: £15 - Yes it’s expensive but like I say, a little goes A LONG way. I’ve used a bottle and a half since August last year (6 months) so that’s not bad at all!

Dry Wax (Green Bottle) - The finished result! If you like a bit of pliability in your hair whilst still having a great hold this is certainly for you! It’s just like hair-spray but doesn’t have the horrible ‘hardness’ that hair-spray gives you. Along with the fact it still gives you the freedom to ‘floof’ to make you look your best it’s a perfect product! Again, it has a lovely fragrance, this time ‘grape and peppermint’. RRP: £13!

These products aren’t readily available in the UK in stores like Superdrug and Boots. However, head over to www.feelunique.com to get these FANTASTIC products.

I’m not advertising, I just SWEAR by them!!!
