The Olympics…. I’m hooked!

The majority of people who know me have the understanding that sport is something that really doesn’t interest me, but all that has changed since Friday. After Mary Poppins flew in to defeat Voldemort I was sold. If Mary’s a part of it, maybe Olympics was something I might be something that I could enjoy after all, and I’ve gone above and beyond! My new discovered loves include: Swimming, Diving, Fencing, Weight Lifting, Gymnastics, Equestrian, (Beach) Volleyball and of course tennis!

It seems that the Olympic games has helped the whole country rediscover a love for sport, supporting their country as competitors compete in something that has taken years of training. For that, I now have a lot of respect for those who have put all that effort in. However, we’ve still got a long way to go before I even contemplate liking football…

To think it was seven years ago since London and the rest of the UK found out we were hosting the Olympic games, and now it’s here. Wasn’t the opening ceremony just pure genius? Mary Poppins, James Bond, Mr Bean and The Queen, anyone would think I’d had some input.

Time really does fly, tomorrow will be the first of August and this month looks promising with some events. I turn 20 for starters… eek, I’m off to London and I’ll be moving into my new house! It does seem like a lifetime ago since I was in Lincoln making the daily trip into Uni, if I’m honest I do miss it, especially all the fabulous people. If you’re reading this now, I love and miss you lots. Can’t wait to see you all very soon.

Here’s to wishing you a very happy August. Now I’m off to catch-up on the swimming and indulge in a nice cup of tea!

Olympic Scarf.

The 2012 Olympics in London are getting so close now, and I decided to do my bit for Team GB. NEXT have designed an official scarf which is more than an accessory as the design dipictcs:

  • 900 Figures to represent 900 athletes of Team GB
  • 900 Hearts, showing our special love for each of them.
  • 900 Stars, to recognise every athlete is a true star.
  • 60 Hands, symbolising the athletes’ 60 million supporters.
  • 26 Sports competed in the 2012 games.
  • 14 Paralympic Lions, as London hosts the 14th Paralympic Games.

The design also includes English roses, Welsh daffodils, Irish flax and Scottish thistles.

Sing - Garry Barlow & The Commonwealth Band.

For some reason this song reminds me of Disney World, but is extremely iconic for Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.

Made In Chelsea.

Absolutely loving this programme at the minute. Now, I really do love The Only Way Is Essex but this is just something else. LOVE IT.

Lincoln Brayford.

It was my friends birthday the other day and could you get a better setting than this? It was beautifully warm, with a slight breeze, good company, and good food!

This is how us Brits have our tea.

Typical English weather when it doesn’t know whether to rain, sun or absolutely piss it down. Talk about April showers!

There’s something horrible about waking up in a morning, drawing back the curtains and seeing rain. Fingers crossed it doesn’t last too long.

These moments make me proud to be British!

During my walk around Nottingham’s city centre there was the UK flag and St George’s flag stretching across streets. It’s means a lot to see the true British spirit perking up!
