Honey, I'm home!
All of my assignments have been handed in, the alcohol has been flowing for the final few parties, I’ve spent countless nights in the newsrooms and I’ve packed my bags and unpacked them. Now though, I can relax as I’m home for Easter If you know me, you’ll know that I’m a party animal and a home-bird, I feel quite privileged to have this combination - it means I can...

Happy Mothers Day!
Hello to you all, thought I’d quickly stop by to wish every mother out there a Happy Mother’s Day. Especially to my beautiful Mum and wonderful Nan. Both of these strong, powerful women have been in my life since day one, supporting me throughout everything I do and encouraging me with everything. Their love and support is what I cherish and use every day, to help me through all those...

Going home for the weekend!
This week has been another testing few days in the life of a student journalist. Monday and Tuesday I was in Uni from 12pm-12am working on our radio show Bon Appetite! Myself and the group had so much fun putting everything together, even if we were delusional after being sleep deprived. Our hard work was rewarded with some fabulous feedback from our tutor as we presented the show live on...

Channeling my inner Miranda Priestly.
If you thought the role of the editor was to rule a world of journalistic slaves, think again. After last week I can kinda understands why the likes of Anna Wintour wasn’t exactly known for her friendly personality and light-hearted approach to life. The editors that can remain friendly and level headed: I take my hat off to you. How do you guys do it? On Tuesday I edited a small news team...

"This stuff?"
Andy Sachs: *Laughs at two belts which look the same*
Miranda Priestly: Something funny?
Any Sachs: No. No, no. Nothing's... You know, it's just that both those belts look exactly the same to me. You know, I'm still learning about all this stuff and, uh...
Miranda Priestly: 'This... stuff'? Oh. Okay. I see. You think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select... I don't know... that lumpy blue sweater, for instance because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise. It's not lapis. It's actually cerulean. And you're also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves Saint Laurent... wasn't it who showed cerulean military jackets? I think we need a jacket here. And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers. And then it, uh, filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic Casual Corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room from a pile of stuff.
Andy Sachs: ...

People are like books.
It is a fact, universally acknowledged that a life mirrors that of a book. The pages in which are bare, await the tip of an inked pen to draw the path of mortality exactly how one desires. Like all books, they reflect the personality of the person, some are very thick, some only a few words long, an indication into the lifespan of that person. Some books are elaborately decorated, some use this as...

March. The start of summer?
Can you believe it’s March 1st today? I can’t. The madness that is University consumes your life the moment you step through it’s doors. It comprised of 50 % socialising, 40% Work, and the remaining 10% can be used for sleeping, eating etc. The months I spend outside of Uni go very slowly indeed. Of course I’ve got my friends back home, but whilst I’m in Lincoln...
